The main goals in building the
Uluu Ot (Sacred Fire)
are:
To pray for peace,
welfare, and success of people throughout the
country while building the Uluu Ot.
To
improve people's attitude toward fire, water,
earth, mountain, and in general toward
nature.
To unite the representatives of
different religions and nations with the goal
of purifying and awakening new life power on
the eve of the new year The
ceremony of Uluu Ot is not in opposition to any
religion. All people need to purify and to
refresh their inner world and spiritual
feelings at the beginning of a new life cycle.
In the Uluu Ot, we burn old, unnecessary trash
that has been left over from the past year.
Uluu Ot will be built with these good
intentions.
Every action
originates from a thought. If people get
together and pray for the same wish at the same
time, it will have an impact. | | Information about
the Uluu Ot:
From ancient times,
the Kyrgyz people considered the act of making
a fire of great importance. For instance,
Kyrgyz people have always asked the eldest,
most-respected women to build the fire for the
first time in the fireplace of a new house.
This shows the strong trust that was placed in
the fire. Our ancestors from ancient times
built the Uluu Ot at night to pray for peace
and ask God to protect them from disasters.
Kyrgyz people used to bless each
other with these words, "May the fire not be
put out from your house."
To the ancient
Chinese, Greek, and Hindi peoples and in the
Bible and Zaratus literature (to name a few)
fire is considered as a sacred power and as a
basis of life.
Kyrgyz Elders and
spiritual practitioners put forth this
blessing: "Oh, Creator, we, human beings, want
to remember our common origin and spiritual
mission. Creator, protect us from
disasters and afflictions. Help us to live in
peace and prosperity, and turn God's light upon
us." |
